It's round two in for games the we want to see remade.
Yep, it’s time for round two of games that we want remade. Will these games ever get the remakes they so desperately need? Probably not but its fun to dream nonetheless, right? Anyway, with the current bombardment of classic games getting the modern treatment, we felt the time was good to dig deep into our bag of dreams and see what fun we could pull out. What we came up with are four games we think you guys will definitely agree, need some sort of remake treatment.

Secret of Mana | Squaresoft | 1993
What came to be the first Mana game released outside of Japan on SNES, also turned out to be the last good Mana series game. Sure Squaresoft tried to capitalize on the overwhelming reception to the classic SNES RPG, but they never could… and still can’t. So what is Square Enix now to do? Well, they have released the game to the Japanese Virtual Console which pretty much means the series is dead. Alas, we have hope sparked from the announcement of the re-release of Chrono Trigger, that Square Enix will do something more with this game. How about putting it on the DS with the update they have been giving the Final Fantasy games? Hell, it already has the multiplayer in it; all they would have to do is add some extra dungeons and an additional playable character and watch the game fly off shelves.

Lufia II: Rise of Sinistrials | Natsume | 1996
Admittedly, I haven’t played this one, though I have been insisted numerous times that this needs a remake. In fact, one person claimed that “the developers need to remake this game and title it as the only Lufia game ever”. Strong words for what is apparently a very good game. It had the first iteration of Final Fantasy limit breaks and a 99 level dungeon in it too! I’m sold. So from my understanding, the remake of this game needs to retain the changes between the Japanese versions and the international versions (hair colors, bunny girls, etc.) and better graphics. Of course, the North American publisher was Natsume and they seem to have decided to only produce Harvest Moon games these days, but the original publisher was Taito… so maybe it could happen.

Star Fox 2 | Nobody | Cancelled
I don’t if it’s appropriate to put a game that wasn’t ever released into an article about remakes. I mean, the game technically was finished and all. Ah screw it, my article, and my rules. Star Fox 2 was supposed to be the sequel to the smash hit 3d/fx game about pilot animals, Star Fox, but was ultimately scrapped to the near release of the Nintendo 64. So we got Star Fox 64 instead, no complaining from me but it would be nice to see what Star Fox 2 had in store. You can technically download the complete ROM dump of the game somewhere on the net but it’s in Japanese and while technically still playable, it would be nice to hear what craziness trash talk Fox and the gang were saying. So how could this be brought into the modern day? WiiWare. You hear that Nintendo? Finish it up and place it on WiiWare. Of course, they can’t hear me over their false desire to pitch Wii Music.

Shin Megami Tensei | Atlus | 1992
This one should be a no brainer. With the sky rocketing popularity of the Shin Megami Tensei games thanks to Persona 3, Atlus is sitting on a gold mine with the original Shin Megami Tensei games. If you missed them (and you probably did thanks to the fact they never came out here), the SMT games were first-person RPGs that dealt with evil and good. For instance, the first game dealt with the ultimate destruction of the world and whether the new world should be a place of everlasting peace or eternal anarchy. Sounds interesting right? Well, now take that and place it in the same engine that Etrian Odyssey used and there you go.
