Best Xbox 360 Game:
Bioshock

Many Xbox fans must be screaming “What about Halo?!” right about now, but the fact of the matter is that while Halo 3 is guaranteed to send shockwaves throughout the gaming world once it’s released later this year, it simply did not have a very impressive E3 showing. At least not when compared to Bioshock, which aside from looking fantastic just from all of the trailers and developer walkthroughs, actually gave us a chance to go hands on with it and see for ourselves why it’s going to be such an amazing game.
While there were other games like Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat, Rock Band, and Mass Effect just to name a few that made this decision a fairly tough one, Bioshock was the game that impressed us the most with its unique and evolutionary approach to first person shooters that puts the focus on using a combination of your head, your environment, and your unique abilities to progress through the game rather than just finding different ways to make shooting things exciting.
Honorable Mention: Mass Effect
Best Multiplatform Game:
Rock Band

While there isn’t much to be said about Rock Band’s gameplay other than that it’s basically Guitar Hero with drums and singing thrown in, the fun you’ll have as your rocking out with three of your buds to your favorite songs will speak all the words necessary to explain why it’s our winner for best multiplatform game. With online play, a star studded track list that actually includes the elusive Metallica on it, the promise of albums worth of downloadable content, and career modes for each of the peripherals ensuring that you only have to buy one of them to enjoy the game, Rock Band is looking to become the definitive rhythm game when it hits stores later this year.
Honorable Mention: Fallout 3
Sleeper Hit of Show:
Turok
E3 2007 was a year for First Person Shooters, there is no doubt about that. With games like Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat, Crysis, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Halo 3, it’s easy to overlook a game like Turok that’s not only being developed by unknown developer, Propaganda Games, but is also based on a franchise that most people would considered all but washed up.
Yet despite all of that and even when compared to those aforementioned games, Turok still manages to impress with fantastic looking visuals, intelligent and incredibly fun to mess with enemy AI, and the most fun you’ll have with a knife in a first person shooter. It may not be as ambitious as Bioshock, as pretty as Crysis, or as immersive as Call of Duty 4, but for those looking for some good ol’ fashion dinosaur killin’ fun, Turok is definitely a title to watch out for.
Honorable Mention: Hannah Montana: Music Jam
