Software/channels to become SD Card compatible.

Many Nintendo Wii owners have long been awaiting an answer to their prayers for additional storage space, the lack of which has forced many to clear out their system's internal memory to make way for new downloadable software.

Well, speaking at its recent press conference in Japan, Nintendo has finally detailed its plans to address the problem without releasing an external hard drive. Their solution? SD Cards.

IGN reports that come Spring 2009, a firmware update will allow users to transfer Wii Software (presumably including both Virtual Console downloads and Wii Channels) to, and then run them from, SD Cards.
