A real treat for anyone looking for a good laugh, not to mention fans of the music game genre.
If you asked me to name the one title this year that I least expected to be released in the United States, it would be Elite Beat Agents (EBA), a Nintendo DS game hitting North American shores this November.
The game's unexpected success, however, has led to a unique situation. Inis, the developer of Ouendan, is bringing the game to the United States in a modified form. Elite Beat Agents is not a sequel per se, but it is far from a direct translation. The game mechanics are being kept exactly the same, but other than that the game is getting a complete rehaul.
Elite Beat Agents is a music game, akin to Dance Dance Revolution and other games of that ilk. While you are playing, concentric circles appear on the screen. When the shrinking outer circle is the same size as the inner circle, you tap it. Different amounts of points are awarded based on how on-beat you are, since the entire thing is timed to the music. It is nice to see a game that uses the touch screen so simply and intuitively.
