Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Change is good, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin proves it. The grittier storyline and more realistic characters (in both personality and design) are a refreshing departure from the super-deformed antics that fans of this portable strategy series have grown accustomed to. What's more, Advance Wars purists won't have much to gripe about as the game's new mature tone hasn't altered the core gameplay. Add to that mega-addictive online multiplayer, more tactical campaign battles and fresh new graphics and music and you've got a gripping strategy game that won't let go of Advance Wars vets or noobs for months.

Highs
Darker story that you'll actually care about; more realistically-designed characters; online multiplayer; graphics tweaked to look less super-deformed and more comic-style.

Lows
Several cut elements and game modes from Dual Strike, which may go missed by longtime Advance Wars fans.

Final Verdict
A new look with classic gameplay intact makes Days of Ruin a win/win for weary Advance Wars fans, purists, as well as anyone who enjoys strategy games.
